THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY (1982) - Peter Weir
The best dwarf performance of all time by a non-dwarf (Linda Hunt). Choosing to cast a four foot nine New Jersey woman as a philosophical Asian dwarf may be the only truly “dangerous” thing about the this movie. And somehow, it works beautifully. Otherwise, it’s the familiar “white man in a foreign land” intrigue, done better in movies like Salvador and The Killing Fields.
